If you're lucky enough to be in the mountains, you are lucky enough.

When something bad happens, you have three choices: let it define you, let it destroy you, or let it strengthen you.

Leadville 100

I am a bit tired and sleep deprived, to put it mildly, but what a blast the last 24 hrs were. Or more. Hours. And blast. I so want to share so much about crewing Annie at LT 100, yet simultaneously, I almost feel like its her story to tell. It truly is. The team worked amazing together, and trusted my sometimes a little rough guiding hand enough to have the whole experience go without a hitch. Well, no 100 goes totally smooth, but we tended to small dips quickly and successfully. The girl lead wire to wire, extending the lead, and gaining extra 30 min on 2nd female in the last 12 miles after dead-walking (yet still maintaining already built 30 min lead by then) for the previous 12. In fact, she ran Boulevard to the finish so fast - on the uphill!- I got dropped midway (after I went down to help Alex, her pacer and coach, to bring her "home") and almost missed her finish. In a 100 mile race, it's not all about sheer ability, training, strength. It's a meticulous plan, execution, patience, perseverance, and a strong belief in your self, and those who are helping you reach your highest goals. Larry, Alex, Matt, Danika. You guys rocked it. Today, Annie's name shot up high, and she'll never fly under the radar, again. Deservingly so. Here's to a great ultrarunning future for an amazing young human being.

And of my favorite.
