The end of season

...didn't go quite as desired, but pretty much as expected. You really can't fool the body, can you? :) I knew that from mile 8, and at mile 26 cut my losses short (and future complications). I have no regrets for starting, and neither for stopping. The course is beautiful, and hell difficult. I've got lots of re-evaluation to do (or, as I was suggested, the re-set button), so I am going underground for a while. Have fun ya'll!

Underground? As in not posting for awhile? Aww c'mon won't you miss us:)

Well I'm sorry it didn't go as planned but I'm glad you pulled the plug before making things worse. Sometimes you can push through and sometimes you can't and you know more about that than I do. You know your body best. The only people who fail are the people who try and the people who finish are the people who have the guts to start. Sorry it wasn't the finish you wanted but still proud of you.

Have fun re-setting, re-energizing, re-invigorating and re-imagining a new season.

Hi Olga,

I for one am amazed that you basically managed to run a full marathon on a tough course despite that injury.

Looking forward to reading you again when you come back "above ground" - have fun and good luck.

I've gone underground too. Wishing you all the best at whatever it is you need to do to "re-set". : )

Olga keep posting! We'll miss you!

Very smart to pull out and not cause further injury. Rest up and come back.

Don't go underground! Tell us about massage and fun being had and other stuff! Life is about more than running. So I hear :p

No way! You can't! If you must I can accept that but will miss your posts for certain. Heal up, winter is coming and it's a good time to hybernate.

Wind down and chill a while Olga! Somehow I can't see you doing that but kick it down a notch or two and smell the flowers that life provides us.

Enjoy splunking! Come back soon!

I ditto all the above comments, especially Danni who said that life is about more than just running! Don't go underground! Whatever that means, it just doesn't sound good.

Thinking of you and I hope you heal as expeditiously as possible!

Hugs to you,
Meghan

Olga, rest up and take the time to recover. We'll miss your voice out here (and I'll miss seeing you at so many races), but I look forward to seeing you come back fully healed and ready to take on future challenges. Take care.

can't fool the body for sure. Glad you made the right choice. Recharging or hitting the reset button is always a good thing!

It was a great weekend, regardless of what happened at mile 26. At least, you had a smile on your face when you came into Islip Saddle. Crewing for you was a lot of fun. Enjoy your rest and letting your body repair itself. And, don't forget to smile. You have a lot to be proud of and thankful for. :)

Surprising? No. Still disappointing? Yes. I was sad to see your name on the DNF list, but I was absolutely certain that you made the right decision - you almost always do.

Enjoy your hibernation. See you when you return.

Enjoy the recovery, you earned it. Sleep late, eat lots and have a cocktail.

I missed you at the aid stations, but enjoyed visiting with Larry. I'm sorry that your race was cut short, but it sounds like you need time to heal up. Take care, girlie. Talk to you soon.

End of season? Underground?
I guess it's probably a good thing to change gears and throw the energies into something else for a little while. If I know you, you'll still be extremely busy!
Take care of yourself and post us some nibbles now and then, okay?

I have had long periods without posting, too. When you are ready, we'll still be here, ready to welcome you back with open arms.

Live strong.

Hi Olga,

I assume from your race calendar you don't make it out east for many races. I'm trying to attract more female runners to my 50k Damn Wakely Dam Ultra. Would love to have you or your female friends.

Yeah I had my 1st DNF last weekend as well-the Plain 100. 55 miles, I was too tired from CC still. What a rugged and "just plain tough" course. Well, be sure to watch the report for San Fran 24 and Ultracentric 48. I've got good feelings about those races. Catch ya later Olga!
