Moving along

Time’s going pretty quickly by, before you know it – another weekend is approaching. I’ve done some more running this week, visited hell-workout at Marquam trail and re-introduced speed work. This one was today. I had decided to get into speed slowly and went only for 3x1200 m. Although my left side stride was definitely very short and I noticeably lost those few fast-twitch muscles that I had to beging with and even strength over the last 4 weeks of doing practically nothing, I enjoyed the little push that I could give. My interval times were half-minute off, but the whole new short step pattern got me to focus more on a quicker leg turnover. For what it’s worth…

On Wednesday we had a scheduled phone call with Alex, and it was sweet like never before. He is doing better every day, and we talk openly about each of our problems. We could hear his maturity in his voice. Hopefully, in another couple of months he can work up to visitation on campus.

Stephen is super-excited about his soccer practices. At first, he was coming home and saying he is the worst player out on the field (what was pretty true), but with some effort and positive talk he began to enjoy it and get better and better. Now we need to figure out how to improve his vocabulary and comprehension…it sucks to be non-English speaking parent.

Tomorrow we are leaving for Seattle. Saturday will be spent with our Russian friends somewhere at Mt. Erie climbing (OK, men will be climbing, I’ll be present near by, unless they drag me on the wall) and hanging out. Then later at night I’ll drive east to join Michelle on a team of our crazy 100 mile runner Robbie. He better hassle, I don’t like running in high sun after noon:)

With that – I bid goodbuy.

I don't know if you will see this before I see you, but I can't wait for you to drag me to the finish tomorrow. I hope you are ready to pace a fat and out of shape ultra runner.
